AppliChem has the equipment and the know-how to produce CellCulture PowderMedia and mixtures for balanced salt solutions. Besides the basal media, which are listed in the current catalogue ‘BioChemica’, we offer the special service of manufacturing special formulations of powder media according to your formulation.

All our media, the basal media as well as the special formulations, are prepared only with raw materials of the highest quality and with utmost care. The single components will be dried according to the formulation and used anhydrously, to obtain a fine powder after pulverizing. This enables the user to dissolve the powder easily.

Our mills enable us to prepare lots from 20 L to 1000 L in one go. For the optimal pulverization of the components of the medium, a minimum filling of the mill is required. Therefore smaller quantities cannot be produced.
Usually our time of delivery for special formulations is two weeks.

On request special formulations may also be supplied as solutions.

The formulations of our basal media are based on the original literature. Modifications are only introduced to optimize solubility and/or stability of the final product. Such modifications can be the exchange of some chemicals to their anhydrous forms or salts against their free bases or acids in an equimolar ratio. To further improve stability, all powder media will be manufactured without sodium hydrogen carbonate.

Media should be stored in a dry place and tightly closed, because they are very hygroscopic. The uptake of moisture reduces the stability of some components. Therefore we recommend dissolving the contents of the complete package at once rather than use small portions of it.
